That’s a Wrap: Harmonic Workshop 2026
From a live market share case study to a hands-on sales vs budget challenge, here’s what students learned about turning data into decisions at Harmonic Workshop 2026.

On 23 October, we hosted Harmonic Workshop 2026, an online session for students from the National University of Singapore (NUS), Singapore Management University (SMU) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU).
The workshop set out to share a new approach to business analytics with tomorrow's leaders. In the AI era, getting insight from data no longer starts with writing code. It starts with asking the right business question.
40 students signed up from multiple universities across different majors and industries, including data science, business analytics and engineering. The response showed strong interest in how AI is changing the way businesses use data.
What is Data Melody Harmonic?
Data Melody is a data and analytics company that helps businesses turn data into decisions. Harmonic is our AI-powered analytics platform. Instead of writing SQL or building charts by hand, you ask questions of your data in plain English. Harmonic runs the analysis, builds the charts and brings them together in dashboards your team can share, so you spend less time preparing data and more time deciding what to do with it.
Case study: Who's winning the market?
We first opened with a live demo in Harmonic.
The problem: a pharmaceutical company believes it's losing ground to its main competitor, but can't say where
The approach: start with a vague question, then sharpen it step by step
The dashboard: market share by product, over time and by therapeutic area
The takeaway: start from the business question, and keep asking better follow-ups until you reach something someone can act on
Hands-on: build your own dashboard
Students then had 40 minutes to tackle a brief of their own: sales are below budget, so find which products are responsible and how the gap has changed over the year.
There was no list of questions to follow. Working out what to ask Harmonic was part of the challenge.
What students took away
Asking the right question matters more than the tool. A vague question gets a vague answer. A specific one gets something useful.
One number can hide the real story. A total can look fine while most products are falling behind, so always break it down.
Value and percentage tell different stories. The product losing the most money isn't always the one furthest off track.
A dashboard should end in a decision. Every chart should answer a question, and the whole thing should point to an action.
You don't need to code to do real analysis. With Harmonic, students went from raw data to a business recommendation in 40 minutes.
Why Harmonic?
What students did in 40 minutes is what Harmonic does for businesses every day: taking a messy business question and turning it into a clear, shareable answer.
