One Search, Ten Countries: Finding Clinical Trials Across Asia-Pacific
Okaggar Bo, Data Scientist, Data Melody Pte. Ltd.
Looking for a clinical trial in Asia-Pacific usually means searching one national registry at a time, each with its own website, layout and terminology. Clinical Trial Finder, built by Data Melody, brings more than 280,000 trials from 10 countries into a single search: Australia, Brunei, China, India, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, South Korea, Thailand and Vietnam.
You answer a few questions about yourself, and it shows you the trials where you meet the basic criteria. Here is who it is built for, and how to use it.
Patients and caregivers
If you or someone you care for is living with an illness and wants to explore clinical trials, the hardest part is often knowing where to start. Most registry websites are written for researchers, and most cover only one country.
Clinical Trial Finder starts with you instead. Enter your condition, age, sex and the country you live in, and it shows the trials you may be eligible for. Each trial page sets out what is being tested, who can take part and where the study runs, in clearly labelled sections.
You can also tell it which countries you would be willing to travel to for treatment. If the right trial is overseas, you can ask our team for help coordinating your admission and travel, including visas, flights and accommodation.
Doctors referring patients
If you are looking for trial options for a patient, the Finder gives you a quick first screen. Enter the patient's condition, age and sex, and it narrows hundreds of thousands of trials down to those where the basic criteria match.
Each trial page lists the main requirements, the reasons a patient may not be able to join, the participating sites and the study team's contact details. That is usually enough to decide whether a trial deserves a closer look, and to reach the right person if it does.
Researchers
If you are planning a study, writing a systematic review or tracking activity in a disease area, you need to know what is already underway across the region. Checking each country's registry one by one makes it easy to miss something.
With Clinical Trial Finder, you can search a condition across all 10 countries at once. Each trial shows its recruitment status, sponsor, study type, eligibility criteria and sites in the same layout. That makes it easier to check for ongoing work, find potential collaborators and compare trial activity between countries.
Pharma, biotech and CRO teams
Industry teams can use the same search to see which trials are recruiting for a condition in each country, who is running them and at which sites. Feasibility teams can gauge how crowded an indication is before committing sites, while business development and medical affairs teams can follow sponsor activity and identify the institutions active in a therapy area.
How to use Clinical Trial Finder
Here is how to run a search, from the home page to contacting a study team.
Enter your basics. Type your condition (for example, breast cancer or diabetes), then add your age and sex.

Choose where you live and where you would travel. Select the country you live in, then tick every country you would be willing to travel to for treatment. Let’s use Japan as an example here:

Decide which trials to include. "Only show trials open for recruitment" is ticked by default. Untick it if you also want to see trials that are no longer recruiting.
Click "Find my trials". The results page shows how many trials may fit you. Each result shows the trial's recruitment status, title, country, and condition, and a "You meet the basics" tick confirms that you match its age, sex, and condition criteria.

Open a trial to see the details. Click any result to open its page. The "Why this may fit you" box explains which of your answers match. Below it, you will find what is being tested, who is running the trial, the main requirements, the reasons you may not be able to join, and the sites where the trial takes place. Let’s use “sac-TMT + pembrolizumab +- bevacizumab as 1L maintenance for cervical cancer” as an example here:

Take the next step. At the bottom of each trial page, you can contact the study site directly by phone or email, or click "Request support" if you would like help with admission and travel.

What to keep in mind
Clinical Trial Finder checks the basics only: age, sex, and condition. It never decides whether you can join a trial. The study team always makes that decision.
Treat what you find as information to discuss with your doctor, not as medical advice. The Finder also covers Asia-Pacific only, so if you need trials in the US or Europe, other registries will serve you better.
